The OCR Exam Board Blog

This is the blog address for the official blog that OCR posts information, sample work and advice on, it is:

http://getaheadocrmedia.blogspot.com

Make sure you have a look at it to see what other advice they can give you.

The sample blogs for AS and A2 are worth looking at.

Creating your PowerPoint

Your task is to create a PowerPoint on an aspect of documentary. You may choose to do the following:

1. A documentary maker - NOT one that we have already studied

2. A documentary series (for example - Ross Kemp on Gangs, Panorama, My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding)

3. A mode of documentary (for example Observational, with examples such as Big Brother, The Only Way is Essex, What Katie did Next)

4. A tv channel that specifically screens a variety of documentaries (for example MTV - Teen Cribs, Gordie Shore, 16 and Pregnant)

All PowerPoints must contain

  • 10-12 slides

  • Written information on the documantay series/maker

  • Still images of the documenmtary with some annotated notes on conventions

  • Hyperlinks to other websites

  • Images

When your PowerPoint is complete load it onto SlideShare and put it on your blog.

Cover Work: 23rd June 2011

I am on a course today...sorry! Here is your work for the lesson:

Please ensure that the following research and work is on your blog:

1. Class notes on documentary types/modes. You have had over a week to add this and some of you still haven’t bothered. DO IT!

2. Write up your notes on the A2 documentaries that you analysed last Friday. If you were absent the documentaries are on SL3 on the desktop. Watch then and analyse the typical conventions, what worked well and what needs improving. If in doubt ask one of the class or see me in tomorrow’s lesson.

3. Start to do some research on Mockumentaries. This is a great documentary form that you can experiment with creating as practice work. Look at the following:

¬ Borat/Ali G/Bruno
¬ Summer Heights High/Angry Boys
¬ Start Stories

By tomorrow’s lesson I am expecting all of 1 and 2 to be completed and for you to have evidence of research for Mockumentaries – not a Wiki print out!

Remember to complete Miss Donovan’s work on Nick Broomfield and load it all onto your blog. Her blog is: http://missdonovansmedia.blogspot.com – make sure that you are following it!

If there are any problems email me; don’t leave it until tomorrow’s lesson. Mrs Porter also has the work if you need a paper copy.

A2 Documentaries

I can't upload the A2 documentaries to Blogger...it doesn't like the format they are in. If you need to see them again they are on SL3 or I have them on a memory stick. I'll try again tomorrow!

Make sure you have uploaded your notes but Thursday's lesson,

Mrs Michael
